For Class on Monday, November 28

In class on Monday, November 28, we are going to be talking about all kinds of information related to style, as well as proofreading and editing (something we all need to improve on!).

Click here for the first web site that we will be looking at. I will be asking you all to write "poorly" for a few minutes in order to emphasize the problems that some folks have when it comes to writing style.

Click here for the the web site on proofreading and editing! We will also be looking at a handout that is related to this web site!

Please do not forget that your interview and survey findings are due on Wednesday, November 30. Let me know if you all are running into any problems, OK?!

Wednesday, November 9: Important Videos

Sorry for the long delay in updating this web site. Here is a video, though, on incorporating direct qotations into your research writing:

http://www.watchknowlearn.org/Video.aspx?VideoID=24811

Introduce the quotation, cite the quotation, and the follow it up! (remember the ham sandwich analogy I keep using in class?)

ENG 102 MWF Classes!

On Monday we will be talking about the Annotated Bibliographies (don't forget that there is an example of this in your assignment packet). We will also review the Project Proposal that is due on Wednesday. In order to work on those Annotated Bibs, we will spend the rest of the week working on MLA citations so .... be sure to bring the pocket guide I asked you to buy (or the book that you used for 101 that had MLA information).

See you folks on Monday!

See Me ASAP If You Don't Know Your Topic!

OK, the deadline is here! You need to know your topic NOW! For the MWF classes, we will be working with your potential topics in class today and the rest of the week (for those of you in the Wednesday class, you have until Wed, of course, to figure out your potential topic!).

Today we finish up our conversation of Scratch Beginnings (Yeah! A whole book finished!) On Wednesday, the librarian will visit all the classes and inform us of the new and old electronic databases that are available for student use here at SWIC. We will then work on our "Library Scavenger Hunt"!

So let the search for articles start!

Do You Know Your Topic Yet?

For my MWF students -- you will need to know your intended topic by Monday's class so we can get started on searching and all that fun business!

For my Wednesday evening students -- well, you should know by the end of our next class meeting!

Be sure to email me if you are having any problems coming up with something, OK?

Welcome to ENG 102!

Welcome to our class! Three classes of ENG 102 will be sharing this web log -- two MWF classes (10 AM and 11 AM) and my late Wednesday afternoon class (4:00-6:50 PM). Even though you are not required to come to this blog, this space will be used to create a resource to let you know what is going on in class -- and to supply you with information. You will notice that the "Slide Share" program at the bottom of this blog contains important handouts from class. Make sure you look through the handouts carefully to find the one you might be looking for (i.e. there are obvious schedule differences between the day and the evening classes).

If you sign up for a free account, this blog also becomes a place where you can ask questions and participate with other folks in ENG 102 for Fall 2011.
